Have I mentioned that I’m smitten with our new neighborhood? Brooklyn is proving to be better that we even thought it would be. There is constantly something going on in our neighborhood or surrounding area that celebrates local chefs/artists/authors etc. For the past two weekends we’ve been taking our daily family walk with the baby to Smorgasburg- a Brooklyn food flea market. We’ve sampled a crazy amount of delicious food with a few standout favorites. Think Fried Green Tomato BLTs, Maine Lobster Rolls, Fuji Apple Lemonade, and yummy dessert offerings like Blood Orange Doughnuts and my favorite of all…the best Black and White Cookies you’ve ever tasted. I was surprised when I noticed that these perfectly cakey cookies that were being freshly frosted came from the local bakery on our block. Lassen and Hennigs is one of our favorite neighborhood spots for sandwiches, but who knew that they made out-of-this-world classic Black and White Cookies.
If you happen to find yourself in Brooklyn Heights, swing by this awesome bakery for a big ole’ Black and White Cookie or pencil in a visit to Smorgasburg this weekend. You won’t be disappointed!
p.s. Send a few good vibes my way… I submit my cookbook manuscript on Monday! I’ll be spending the weekend looking it over for one final edit while soaking up some quality time with the yummiest 3 month old baby around. Happy Weekend!

Sending good vibes!!! Enjoy that yummy baby. I will be nibbling on my 7-almost-8 month old! Doesn’t get tastier than this!
You won’t need luck Kelsie, your wonderful recipes are just what every home cook needs. Enjoy your little sweetie, he is beautiful.
Sorry – spelled your name like my niece!
Can’t wait for the cookbook! Will it be out by Christmas? Enjoy your little cutie! He’s a doll!
Good vibes on the way. Little One gets cuter by the minute
I would fly to Brooklyn for one of those black and white cookies. I buy mine at Fresh Market in Richmond, VA, but miss the bakeries of my youth. Glad you picked a good neighborhood in which to live, stroll, and soak up all the best the city has to offer. Kisses to Oliver. Getting any sleep yet?
Hoping to see a section of essential tools in your cookbook. Can’t wait to buy it. When I first started watching your show this summer I searched Barnes and Noble to see if you had a book out yet.
