We like to make an annual trip to a apple orchard/cider mill/pumpkin patch and this year was no exception! We thought about things a bit differently since we have a very busy toddler on our hands these days and ended up planning a visit to Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard about an hour north of NYC. They had a great setup for kids and from all of the research I did, they also had the best local food vendors – important. The first thing we did was eat. We chose BBQ but they had delicious looking coal oven pizza that was terribly tempting. After the pulled pork and brisket we headed straight for the pumpkin cheesecake and most importantly the cider and donuts.
Ollie seems to think he’s much bigger than he actually is and went around trying to pick up every pumpkin in the patch. It was hilarious. He seemed to run from pumpkin to pumpkin with his pointer finger in the air as if he was bossing everyone around him as to what pumpkin they should pick. We’ve got a character on our hands! Naturally, he was a big fan of the doughnuts.
This is his “I’m the boss” face. We’ve started calling him “Turkey” since that double chin looks like a gobbler. Very fitting for this time of year, don’t you think?!
We left with lots of doughnuts, cider, a pumpkin for Ollie, and a bushel of honey crisp apples that have been hitting the spot ever since. This is becoming quite the fun family tradition and I’m already looking forward to next year! (Thanks for tagging along Aunt Kylie and snapping all of these great photos – we’re so spoiled to have you!)
