…of the year is the day you get the call saying, “you’ve been picked up for another season.” It’s basically a call that confirms that I still have a job- my dream job at that! I was ecstatic when I received this call last week regarding season four of Kelsey’s Essentials. These exciting days are usually celebrated with a fun dinner out to a restaurant that has been on our ever-growing list of NYC restaurants to try.

Then, the work begins. From the moment we’re officially “picked up” things basically get crazy for about six weeks. We first go into development mode for show themes, then it’s on to the recipes, recipe testing, and finally filming.

We are just entering the searching for show themes stage- which is very exciting! There are already some really fantastic ideas circulating, but I would love to hear from YOU! Any specific types of shows that you would love to see on Kelsey’s Essentials next season? I’m open to any and every idea. I’d also love to hear if there are certain types of recipes that you would like to see on the show.

Such an exciting time! I can’t thank you enough for your support both on the blog and to those of you that tune in week after week. My life lately seems to be a series of “pinch me” moments where I am in a constant state of feeling grateful for the opportunity I get to do this incredible job. Many, many thanks!

Hi Kelsey! I love your show, in fact I’m slightly obsessed. I’ve tried almost all of your recipes, my husband always asks what new ‘Kelsey Recipe’ are we trying tonight? So it makes me so happy to hear that you’ll be on for another season, congrats!

I always love new chicken recipes, (chicken can get so monotonous) pasta sauces and soups! I love making soup and would love to see some of your takes on traditional soups!

    Keep up the good work!

Your show keeps getting better and better (if that’s possible) and it’s fun to see you out and about on location doing what you love. Your hubby was a natural on camera and I enjoyed your entertaining banter back and forth. Now, where were you for the last Pillsbury Bake-off?? :) I would have loved to have met you there. What a fun experience to be there for it though this year, Kelsey. Best of luck to you in Season 4.

How about one where you cook with all of your sisters in law? ;) So happy for you!!

I look forward to your show every Saturday. I love how you often reference your family … they have raised you right! You have such a fantastic way of relating to those on your show, and that is not always easy. I’m glad that your were “picked up” … I am always thinking about contacting the network, but never knew for sure where to send my comments. So excited for you!

I love love love your show and your recipes and your wardrobe (seriously, you’ve got great style). As a home chef I love learning the basics and various ways you can style them. For example, different ways to use a red sauce or exciting recipes for basics like hash, pie, pizza, etc. Getting someone’s spin on a staple is always fun! Congrats on getting picked up for another season.

Another big fan here–I’m glad Mr. Flay had the smarts to snatch you up after the Next Food Network Star :) I DVR your show and love it. I love the ‘essentials’ theme–it really makes your recipes approachable.

I know you don’t have kids (I’m pretty sure? ;) , but maybe something on essential kids breakfasts or essential family meals?

I also love anything that works for a dinner date at home w/my husband (and I’ve had plenty of inspiration for this one from you!).

    Congratulations and good luck!

ps–and I love your nail color (unique for food show!)..care to share who makes it? :)

Could I have put more smiley faces in my above comment?? Wanted to add that I would love some more sauce or marinade ideas…something that works across different proteins (something to jazz up my chicken and pork!). xo

I discovered the Cooking Channel and Kelsey’s Essentials about a year ago….love your fun and refreshing personality and how enthusiastic you are about cooking! Wondering if you have any plans to publish a cookbook companion to your show? Congratulations and good luck on your new season!

  13. Many congrats Kelsey and I’m so excited that there’s a great new season of Kelsey’s essentials on deck. I’m going to toss a stiletto in the ring and perhaps suggest some more canning/foodie gift ideas (esp. with the fall/winter coming up) and some new tried and true ideas on comfort food.

  14. Isabelle says:

Hi Kelsey, I’m a freshman in high school and I do a lot of cooking for my family to give my parents a break. I would love to see you have some more guests on your show. Keep up the “variations”!

  15. Jessica B says:

My husband said he would like to see a “Eat This, Not That,” type of episode, where you take some not-so healthy recipes and recreate them into a healthier version. I do like that idea, as well. I agree with Aly, too, about more canning/foodie gift ideas.

  16. Congratulations! You deserve it! You are adorable, and your personality makes the show!

  17. sarah says:

Congratulations! How about an episode featuring food for children? Homemade baby food? Or flip it and make grown-up version of kid favorites? So excited for you and can’t wait to see the new season!
